Village Meadows Elementary School has been recognized as an A+ School of Excellence® by the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF), a distinction awarded to only a select number of schools across the state. This honor highlights the school's exceptional student achievement, innovative programs, and strong commitment to educational excellence. Notably, Village Meadows is the only school in Cochise County to receive this recognition this year.
The A+ School of Excellence® Award, established by AEF, celebrates outstanding public schools that go above and beyond in providing high-quality education. Schools undergo a rigorous application process that includes a self-assessment and an evaluation by a panel of judges. Winners receive a $500 award and a banner to display their achievement. The designation remains valid for four years before schools must reapply.
A Commitment to Student Success
One of the standout elements of Village Meadows’ approach to learning is its focus on Targeted Small Group Instruction, a method designed to meet the unique needs of every student. By providing individualized support and tailored learning strategies, the school ensures that all students receive the attention and guidance they need to thrive.
"This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students," said Dr. Eric Holmes, Superintendent of Sierra Vista Unified School District. "At Village Meadows, we are truly 'Achieving Excellence Together' by 'Empowering You' to reach new heights. This recognition reflects our district’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality education for every student."
A Culture of Excellence
Village Meadows’ success is the result of a collaborative effort between educators, students, and families. Assistant Superintendent Terri Romo emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving this milestone:
"Our educators, students, and families have worked together to build a culture of excellence, and this award proves that dedication pays off. We believe in 'Empowering You' so that every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. Village Meadows has exemplified what it means to be 'Achieving Excellence Together' as a school community."
For Principal Michelle Wambach, the recognition affirms the school’s commitment to its motto: "Lifelong Learning for All."
"At Village Meadows, we embrace a culture of continuous growth and improvement. Our commitment to ‘Lifelong Learning for All’ drives everything we do, from implementing small group instruction to fostering a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom. This achievement is a reflection of the dedication and passion our teachers and staff bring to our students each day. I couldn’t be prouder of our entire school community for earning this well-deserved recognition."
