Interested in joining the military after high school? BHS will be hosting the ASVAB test on November 8th and 9th. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. Buena Fine Arts is putting the finishing touches on their first show if the season "Egad, The Women in White". The show opens tomorrow night, with a second performance on Saturday with a curtain time of 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $5 and sold at the door. We hope to see you tomorrow night at Buena's Klein Center for the Perrforming Arts.

CAMP DECA At Lost Canyon! Buena DECA officers attended Camp DECA and spent three days in the beautiful pines of Williams, Arizona! From August 22nd to August 24th, six Buena DECA officers learned how to be the ultimate chapter leader. Taking place at the Lost Canyon Young Life Camp in Williams, Arizona, the Buena DECA officers paid $100 for registration and got their transportation paid for thanks to their fundraising efforts. Emerging leaders from all around the state attended this event filled with networking, character building, activities, and programs! There were eight different leadership success sessions related to specific leader positions, communication, marketing, ethical leadership, and more! Everyone was assigned a color team and participated in field competitions and a lip sync battle with their respective color team. There was also a designated time to explore the camp, a campfire with s'mores, open gym time, a game room, snack bar, and a dodgeball tournament. The Buena DECA officers also had the opportunity to design a Program of Leadership, where they planned, outlined, and detailed activities for the year and aligned them with specific guiding principles. The Camp DECA experience was a fun and valuable time for the Buena DECA officers, serving as a great start to the DECA year!

The Buena Homecoming Dance was scheduled to be at Rothery education center but due a flood because of rain it is being moved to Buena. The dance will begin at 7:15.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s office identified an event at a Cochise County school about a student bringing a firearm and ammunition to school on August 29th. This event did NOT happen at a Sierra Vista Unified School District school. We will always notify all parents in the event an actual firearm is ever brought on campus. Students and staff safety is a top priority and parent communication is critical. Thank you to all area law enforcement for protecting all Cochise County schools and children.

Class visits will begin with 0 hour starting at 5:15. If you do not have a student with a 0 hour you are welcome to visit one of our tables in the main area and listen to a performance by our choir program. There is currently a Police and Sherriff incident on Charleston Road between Guileo Cesear and Columbo.  At this time, no traffic is allowed on Charleston Road between those 2 streets.  Please follow all law enforcement and traffic control.  There is no threat to students or staff at Buena.

Who is ready to start school?!?!?! All SVUSD schools have their first day tomorrow. We are excited to have everyone back after the summer break. Just a few reminders: Buses will be out in the community so please be cautious when driving. There are a lot of first day jitters so routes may take a little longer than normal. Drivers, be on the lookout for all school zones and remember to slow down. The national free meal program ended last school year so meals are no longer free for all students. Be sure to load your MySchoolBucks account so your students can buy meals if they need. All students at Carmichael Elementary still receive free meals. Tomorrow is an early release day. Elementary ends at 12:45pm, JCMS ends at 2:15pm and Buena ends at noon. We cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow! We cannont wait to see everyone tomorrow

Sierra Vista Unified School District is offering free breakfast and lunch to all children under the age of 18 over the summer. Meals are available for pick up at Bella Vista Elementary, 801 N Lenzner Ave. Meal pick up will be by the flagpole at Bella Vista from 8:30 am- 9:30 am. This program ends on June 30th, 2022. Each bag will contain both breakfast and lunch items for children. Eligible children do not need to be present for parents to pick up meal bags. The second annual Summer Academy starts tomorrow at Bella Vista Elementary, PDS Elementary, Town & Country Elementary and Buena High. Buses will be out in the community picking up students and school zones will be in place around the 3 elementary schools. Let the summer fun and learning begin!!!

Congratulations to the class of 2022. Buena High School Graduation is tonight at 7pm at Buena’s Loveless Stadium. All graduating seniors will be issued one graduate parking pass and one guest parking pass for the event. Charleston Road from 4:30pm -10pm will be closed to all traffic from Colombo Avenue to Moson Road, except for those with parking passes. Additional parking will be provided at the Mall at Sierra Vista on the southeast side. SVUSD transportation will provide shuttles from the Mall at Sierra Vista, with buses running approximately every 15-20 minutes beginning at 5:00pm.
