On January 23rd, Buena DECA attended a Rotary meeting to give a presentation about the various Buena CTE programs! Taking place at the Horace Steele room in the library on the Sierra Vista Cochise College campus at 12:00 pm, Buena DECA attended a Rotary Club of Sierra Vista meeting! In correlation with a DECA Project Management Business Solutions project, the Vice President of Career Development, Jenny Ou, gave a presentation about the Buena CTE department and the various CTE programs that Buena offers to its students. The president of Buena DECA, Victoria Kemnitz, attended this meeting with Jenny as well! The presentation covered an overview of what Buena CTE is, the benefits, its importance, how students get involved, how the community can help, and more. It was a fantastic meeting and Buena DECA hopes to maintain strong relations with the Rotary Club of Sierra Vista moving forward! It was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to speak to and meet with an organization that is always doing great things in the community. If you would like to help support Buena DECA's fundraising efforts, please visit buenadeca.org.

This week, Buena nursing and home health students had the opportunity to learn about hospice care. Team members from Casa de la Paz Hospice joined the students in class and talked about the care they provide to patients and families and the role it plays in healthcare. This is just one example of how local community supports our Buena CTE programs. Thank you to Casa de la Paz Hospice for providing our students this learning opportunity.

Students at Town & Country Elementary got to take part in a little holiday cheer and decorate gingerbread men cookies. But, these were not any ordinary gingerbread men. Buena Culinary students made the cookies using cookie cutters that were designed and printed by Buena Engineering students using a 3D printer. Once the template was created, it traveled to the Auto Shop and students used their metalworking skills to make the cookie cutters. The cookie cutters headed back to the student’s kitchen where the dough was rolled out and baked. Buena Culinary students then headed to Town & Country with the giant cookies, candy and frosting and worked with the elementary students to decorate the gingerbread men. Everyone had a blast and the first graders were so happy to have the big kids come to their class and work with them. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this holiday cheer happen!!!
