Buena Fine Arts Productions presents its annual spring musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, on May 5th and 6th, 7:00pm at Buena’s Klein Center for the Performing Arts.
Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written and directed by John Musker & Ron Clements, The Little Mermaid follows Ariel, who dreams of becoming human. In
love with the human Prince Eric, Ariel makes a deal with Ursula, the Sea Witch, to exchange her beautiful voice for her own legs. While Ursula plots her vengeance against Ariel’s father King Triton, Ariel and her friends race against time to save herself, her family, and her Kingdom from Ursula’s scheme to conquer Triton and rule the oceans for herself.
The Little Mermaid features an incredible cast of student actors, with a fun, classic soundtrack beloved by families of all ages. Join us for a delightful evening the whole family will enjoy! Tickets are $7 and doors open at 6:30. Tickets can also be purchased online at Buena.Booktix.com

Huachuca Mountain 5th Grade is visiting Grey Hawk Ranch - All Huachuca Mountain 5th Grade classes are visiting the Grey Hawk Nature Center this month. Under the guidance of Sandy Anderson, the students learned about the appreciation, conservation, and understanding of our local plants and animals. They all enjoyed the hands-on learning approach by being able to hold snakes and getting up close, but not too close, to a Gila monster. A highlight for the students was a quick hike to get their feet wet in the San Pedro River and enjoy their picnic lunch. Sandy understands how to capture her audience and the students are left with stunning stories to tell at home after having a blast with nature.
“Broadway” at HM - The Huachuca Mountain Music Club presented their “Broadway” performance on April 20th to all students and staff, and an evening performance on April 25th. With the support of the amazing parent volunteers the club of about 40 students, presented an amazing performance that included solos, choir, and dance. On their magical journey into the world of musicals, they shared songs from “Frozen” to“ Hamilton”. Thank you Music Club, all organizers, and volunteers for this wonderful performance.

Huachuca Mountain Elementary is proud to honor sixth grade teacher Tana LaPaglia as their Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. LaPaglia is a highly effective teacher, as evidenced by her students' state test scores and benchmark assessments. She has the ability to produce students who master Math and ELA standards far above state averages. By providing cooperative learning opportunities, her students are continuously learning. She uses her student data to determine when instructional changes in Tier One instruction are needed. Her classroom represents a growth mindset model, where students are able to learn, fail, reassess and succeed.
Thank you Mrs. LaPaglia for helping our Bolts be the best!
This week SVUSD honored 8 outstanding educators as Teacher of the Year for each of our schools. Every one of these individuals is an exemplary teacher and help all of their students be the best student they can be. Over the next 8 days we will meet each one of these teachers and learn a little bit about what makes them so amazing.
