Buena Fine Arts Productions presents its annual spring musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, on May 5th and 6th, 7:00pm at Buena’s Klein Center for the Performing Arts. Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written and directed by John Musker & Ron Clements, The Little Mermaid follows Ariel, who dreams of becoming human. In love with the human Prince Eric, Ariel makes a deal with Ursula, the Sea Witch, to exchange her beautiful voice for her own legs. While Ursula plots her vengeance against Ariel’s father King Triton, Ariel and her friends race against time to save herself, her family, and her Kingdom from Ursula’s scheme to conquer Triton and rule the oceans for herself. The Little Mermaid features an incredible cast of student actors, with a fun, classic soundtrack beloved by families of all ages. Join us for a delightful evening the whole family will enjoy! Tickets are $7 and doors open at 6:30. Tickets can also be purchased online at Buena.Booktix.com Thank you for supporting the arts in our schools and community. See you there!

This afternoon at JCMS a student came to the office and informed staff that another student was trying to sell bullets to them. That student was immediately brought to the office and it was discovered they were carrying 10 live ammunition bullets on them. The Sierra Vista Police Department was called and is on scene assisting with the situation. The student did not have any weapons on them and was not making any threats. The student will face discipline in line with district policy. Thank you to JCMS staff and SVPD for their quick action and a special thank you to the JCMS student for speaking up. We have amazing students at JCMS who follow our Coyote Code and help keep everyone safe.

The Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) tests all grades will be taking Writing on Wednesday 4/5, Reading on 4/6 and Math on 4/7. It would help tremendously if you could share with your child the importance of doing their best on all their assessments. Here are some more ways you can help ensure your student’s success on these tests. The night before each test: β€’ Have them charge their Chromebook. β€’ Ensure they get a good night’s sleep. The day of each test: β€’ Ensure they eat breakfast β€’ Be on time to school. We know our students will do their very best! What an amazing student body we have here at JCMS!
