JCMS Credit System for Promotion

JCMS students must earn 5.5 credits to be promoted to the next grade level. Students can earn a possible 6 credits each year. 

Credits accumulate (with a passing grade of 60%) in two ways:

1. Half a credit per semester

  • Math,

  • English,

  • Social Studies,

  • Science,

  • Band,

  • Choir,

  • Physical Education,

  • Tech Foundations,

  • Culinary,

  • 2D & 3D Art, and

  • Any other semester classes.

2. Quarter credit per quarter

  • Exploration classes (7th grade only)

    • Art,

    • Music, and

    • Keyboarding
