As a former special education/kindergarten teacher, my passion for helping kids grew into my motivation to start my masters in school counseling. The last two years at the high school I have enjoyed building relationships with the students, families and staff. Meet Ms. Danielson, the School Counselor at Huachuca Mountain Elementary! "Hi, I am the school counselor at Huachuca Mountain Elementary. I love being a school counselor because, I love getting to know students and being there for them through the highs and lows of life. I enjoy the opportunity to work with students on the skills they will need to find success and happiness throughout their lives. I love that I am able to maintain a continuous relationship with students during their entire elementary experience; watching them learn and grow to be incredible people. I also like being a part of helping other educators meet the needs of their students. My favorite thing about being a school counselor is that my job is truly about being present for students. Through laughter, tears, frustrations or celebrations; I feel privileged that our students allow and trust me to be an encouraging voice in their lives. " Thank you for #HelpingStudentsDreamBig

PDS loves their School Counselor, Ms. Galbraith! "While this is my first year as a school counselor, I have always been in roles where I was able to help build and shape the minds of the youth. Since taking on this role as a counselor I have enjoyed getting to know each student and helping them work through their problems. Our first counselor to celebrate during National School Counselors Week is Ms. Weber from Village Meadows. Let's meet Ms. Weber! "I am the school counselor and PBIS Tier II Team Leader at Village Meadows Elementary school. I love being a school counselor because of the relationships I get to build with my students! I get to be there for support during tough times and to cheer-on and celebrate our students’ successes every year they’re with us. My favorite part of being a counselor is helping students who drop-in for support with friendship skills and conflict resolution- it’s so rewarding to help students navigate their day-to-day lives and learn some new skills to take out into the real world!" Thank you Ms. Weber for #HelpingStudentsDreamBig

Half Day
This morning the smoke alarm at Huachuca Mountain went around off due to a high volume of smoke in the kitchen. The staff and students were all evacuated from the building and the fire department was called. Students and staff were outside for approximately 15 minutes before the fire department allowed everyone back in the buildings. The smoke was a result of a piece of kitchen equipment, at no time were flames visible in the area or any immediate threat to student and staff safety. Thank you to all the staff and students for following our fire/smoke alarm procedures and putting safety first. We would also like to thank the Sierra Vista Fire Department for their quick response. All activities and classes have resumed as normal.
