Dear Parents of Sierra Vista Unified School District, We understand that the recent transportation delays have caused concerns and frustrations for both you and your students. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and would like to provide you with some clarity on the situation. Unfortunately, Student Transportation of America (STA), our transportation partner, faced unexpected challenges when four employees abruptly left their positions. While it was known that these employees were planning to leave at the end of the school year, the timeline shifted unexpectedly, leading to the current staffing shortage. We want to assure you that the leadership at STA was proactive in addressing this issue. New drivers were already enrolled in the training program to cover the anticipated departures at the end of the year. Additionally, STA has arranged for new drivers to be transferred from other locations, and they will soon join the Sierra Vista team. These new drivers, along with those undergoing training, are eagerly awaiting their state certification. We expect some of the new drivers to be available to begin their routes at the beginning of February with the remainder of drivers being available through the end of March. STA will also continue to hire and train additional drivers to ensure a more robust and reliable transportation service in the future. Both Sierra Vista Unified School District and STA are working diligently to minimize the impact of these delays on your students' transportation to and from school. We understand the importance of reliable transportation for your children's education and well-being. We are genuinely excited for the new drivers to join our team and contribute to easing some of the delay issues. We believe that their addition will enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of our transportation services. 🐝📚✨ Exciting News from the SVUSD Spelling Bee! 🎉🏆 Today was a buzz of words at the Rothery Education Center as 13 brilliant contestants from our six elementary schools and Joyce Clark Middle School showcased their spelling prowess in the district-wide spelling bee! Representing each elementary school and JCMS, the participants spelled their hearts out, showcasing true dedication and linguistic skills. After intense rounds of challenging words, we're thrilled to announce the SVUSD Spelling Bee Champion – Vivian M. a 5th grader from Huachuca Mountain Elementary School! 🌟🏅 Marshall F. an 8th grader from JCMS secured an impressive second place, earning the honor of representing our district at the Cochise County Spelling Bee for 7th and 8th graders. 🌍📘 A huge shoutout to all the students who competed today – your hard work and determination truly shone through! 👏 Job well done! 🎊📖 #SVUSDSpellingBee

As of this morning, all SVUSD schools and offices are facing challenges with our phone system. Unfortunately, we are presently unable to initiate or receive calls to external numbers. Our IT department has already contacted our service provider, Cox Communication, regarding an equipment failure. Cox is actively working to resolve the issue and restore the system promptly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. During this time, we kindly request that you utilize email addresses to contact the schools. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Buena will begin at 9:20am, JCMS at 11am and elementary schools at 10am. Bus times will be pushed back 2 hours on all routes and stops. All release times will remain as a normal school day. Breakfast will still be available but only cereal, lunch will be served as normal. Buena will not have zero hour. Thank you.

🎄✨ A Special Day of Holiday Magic at Town and Country! 🌟🍭 Last week the 5th and 2nd-grade classes at Town and Country experienced a magical treat, thanks to the generosity and creativity of the Sierra Vista Education Foundation and the talented students at Buena High School! The Education Foundation sponsored all the ingredients for the gingerbread Christmas trees, while the auto class at Buena High School crafted unique cookie cutters, adding a touch of innovation to the festivities. The culinary classes at Buena High School took the holiday spirit a step further by baking a gingerbread tree for each student. 🍪🎅 The high school students then brought the festive cheer to Town and Country, joining forces with the elementary students to decorate the gingerbread trees. It was a sight to behold as each Roadrunner received their own decorating supplies, including frosting, skittles, gumdrops, marshmallows, candy canes, and more! 🍬🎨 The creativity and joy were palpable as the students unleashed their imagination on the gingerbread canvases. But that's not all! The 5th graders had an extra special task — they had to write an essay to choose between a real or a fake tree. What a wonderful way to integrate learning and decision-making into the holiday festivities!
